“It is through others that we become ourselves.” -Lev Vygotsky
Welcome, I’m Kensi.
I write to make sense of life and relationships, to connect us in our humanity, and to contemplate what God is doing in the spaces within and between us.
So nice to meet you!
I’m a licensed therapist, creative writer, business owner, DMin student, and coach to business and ministry leaders. I’m a contemplative soul with a pastoral heart, systemic mind, and entrepreneurial spirit.
From creating curriculums and leading workshops, to hosting the Brave Marriage Podcast, to writing a book about marriage and gender theology, my aim is to encourage the church in formative living, healthy relating, and systemic thinking.
Reflected in my writing here at Self-Studies, you’ll see threads of my formal studies of psychology, theology, spiritual formation, counseling, couples therapy, relational neuroscience, and family systems theory.
I’m proud to be a first-generation college grad from a small Kentucky town. In my work, I seek to turn academic learning into everyday language to facilitate self-reflection (Mt. 7:3-4), confessional community, and storytelling (Rv. 12:11).
The Heart Behind Self Studies
After doing many things in my career, I’ve discovered I’m allergic to being pedestaled or pressured to perform at a level of productivity that exceeds the speed of my soul.
Self Studies is a space where I archive personal essays, articles, interviews, blog-style updates, and free resources curated to help us flourish together in our formation. You’ll receive some of these resources in your welcome email.
I’m a writer who needs to write as I have time, who desires some privacy on the internet, and who’s happiest when helping others deepen their relationships with God, themselves, and each other.
Our ministry will always be practiced through our own conflicted selves.
-Walter Brueggemann
